Out of the darkness, we welcome the return of the sun. The celestial wheel has turned once again and we are walking our path in ever increasing light. In this light is the essence of our being; we are formed of light and to light we always return. This is the light of this world and the other planes through which we travel. This is the light that radiates even now as our essential beings travel sustained through the energy of love. Namaste!

When we contemplate the reality of renaissance as a perpetual blessing that sustains and informs our lives, we welcome the renewal that is available to us in every breath. As we await the rebirth of the sun and its life giving light, we know that we are part of a larger vision than our own. The stark beauty of bare tree branches reaching into the grey morning sky reminds us of our own cycle of life. We incarnate into the physical plane and enjoy our span of manifestation, then experience rebirth on the other side of the veil. The illusion in the physical plane of the cycle of life and death serves to instill in us a sense of longing and at the same time fulfillment. Through our physical journey, we seek to gain an understanding of our physical being. When we are non-physical spirit, we welcome the lessons available only in the realm of form. Namaste!

While some have finished their holiday revelries and reveries, others still have several more days of preparation in advent of celebration. Whatever the form our rituals take at this time of year, they are all rooted in the idea of renaissance, of birth or rebirth, of new beginnings arising from the darkness to spread the light of love throughout the earth. In this time of faith and hope, we may dig deeper to add charity of thought and deed to our daily routine that we manifest the vision of the Creative Spirit on earth. It is in giving that we receive the knowledge that we are one. Namaste!

Celebrate! The darkness has reached its full depth and the sun awaits in solitude to be reborn. Even though the daylight hours will not seem any longer for some time, we know that in reality, the sun will soon start to wend its way higher in the sky until, six months from now, we will be celebrating its zenith and coming descent. But, at this moment, we are in the midst of the Winter Solstice. As we sit in anticipation, we may hear the far off crunch of snow, the ringing of bells, the singing of holiday tunes, or the crackling of the hearth fire. From the depth of the silence and the darkness, we become aware of the dawning of hope kindled by the promise of a renaissance of light. Namaste!

The days of greatest and deepest darkness are upon us. Now is the time when we must stand beyond faith and know that the sun will return to warm us and illuminate our path. In ancient times, how frightening it must have been to not know that the growing darkness would not swallow the earth forever and that the nurturing and life-giving orb in the sky was not about to disappear, never to return. Our far distant ancestors were impelled to create rituals that would invite the light to return. As we light our candles to dispel the darkness, we reach back in time, in community with our earlier selves. Namaste!
