April 20, 2011

The earth is a loving and nurturing mother who tends to our needs and tries to provide a healthy environment in which we can grow and flourish. In turn, many of us act as petulant and ungrateful children who stamp our feet and insist that our way of doing things is the only way. We are like that toddler screaming through a tantrum, insisting on too much candy and throwing the broccoli on the floor. If we take the time to watch the events unfolding around us, we can learn what the earth wants us to do. Oil spills and earthquakes that threaten nuclear power plants are signs that we should heed. The earth tells us that the wind, the water, and the sun can provide all the energy we could ever want and can do so without threatening to end our physical existence. When we live in harmony with the earth, we enjoy her nurturing, loving embrace. Namaste!
