April 21, 2011

We must each step up and take responsibility for not only our portion of the earth on which we sit, but for the whole earth and, thus, for each other. We cannot wait for someone else not to throw away, rather than recycle, a bottle, or piece of paper, or a used electronic item. We cannot wait for someone else to demand clean energy resources that do not harm the earth or each other. We cannot sit back and believe that because someone appears to have more power they also have more knowledge, and if they have more knowledge, that they have the good sense to use it for the good of the planet. We cannot watch natural disasters and changes in the weather and not accept that our actions and non-actions are having a negative impact on the planet. We cannot wait for governments to legislate eco-responsibility; we must stand up upon our portion of earth and, as Gandhi said, “be the change you want to see in the world.” Namaste!
